Fun, Free Things to do This Weekend!

fall free fun.jpeg

The weekend is approaching, and the same question pops up: “What should we do this weekend?” Normally, the response is something like, “I don’t know,” or, “I don’t have any money.”  Sometimes we think the “fun” things are always too expensive. But this doesn't have to be true! Every city is home to an abundance of free or extremely affordable options. Don't believe me? Check out my top picks!

Have a Picnic

It's time for you to get outside and enjoy some fresh air, a relaxing meal, all in the company of your significant other, best friends, or even on your own with a good book. Picnics are perfect for your local park, beach, or outdoor area of your choice!

Community Activities

No matter where you live, your community will be home to some great free or affordable outing options. Visit a museum in your area, check out that new art installation, or take a trip through a communal garden!

Seasonal Festivities

Fall is finally here, and with that, it's time to pick some apples! Many orchards will let you gather a certain amount for free, or charge you a very small fee to bring home a bushel! What to do with all your new apples? Make a fresh, delicious apple pie, of course!

Window Shopping

Who doesn't love shopping? But if you're on a budget, that may be the last thing you want to do. Try this tip: take a notepad with you (or jot some down in your phone's notepad app) and list all the things you want and what their prices are. When you get home, add up the prices. You'll be surprised how much money you just saved yourself!

Volunteer

Giving back to your community can make you feel richer emotionally. By doing something for others, you can appreciate more of what you already have. Head to your local animal shelter or homeless shelter and join with others looking to make the world a better place for all living creatures.

Game Night

Who doesn't love spending time with family and friends? Host a game night and invite everyone over! Make it a potluck and have each guest bring a snack, drink, or dessert. All you'll need to provide is the main course, or some snacks of your own!
